Ultimate Realism Pack before
installing this new "full" version. This will ensure avoiding
compatibility issues, as well as to ensure that everybody is using the
same version of the Realism Pack.

file. Use WinRAR to extract the contents of the WinRAR file,

directory. This is the actual executable file.
3. Once extracted, double-click on the
"gr_absquads_desert_siege_realism_pack_v8_50.exe" file to install the
Ultimate Realism Pack.

This will update all previous versions of
ABSquad's Ultimate Realism Pack to v9.00, and adds the Soviet

NOTE: Please
read the following in order to assure a clean installation of ABSquad's
Desert Siege Realism Pack. This has to be done only ONCE:
The
self-install program I use is set up not to overwrite "read
only" files on your computer. This is done to avoid accidentally
overwriting critical system files, which are typically set as "read
only". The problem is that Ghost Recon by default sets a lot of its
files as "read only" - files that really do not need to be set
up like that (Example: texture files, mission files, etc.). This will
cause the Realism Pack to fail to install if you do not remove the "read
only" status from the Ghost Recon folder structure. In order to
do this, please follow these instructions BEFORE
attempting to install the Realism Pack. Again, this only has to be done
ONCE:
WINDOWS
XP/VISTA/7:
Open
Windows Explorer and navigate to the following directory: C:\Program
Files\Red Storm Entertainment\Ghost Recon.
In
the LEFT window pane, click on the "Ghost Recon"
sub-folder once to "highlight" the folder name.
Move
the mouse over the "Ghost Recon" folder and click the RIGHT
mouse button. Your screen should look similar to the image below:

Choose
"Properties..." from the options listed. Another
window will open.
Near
the bottom of the window, you will see an "Attributes:"
section.
You
should see a check mark (slightly grayed out) next to the "Read-only"

Click
in the check box to remove the Read-only option. Your screen should

Click
the "Apply" button located in the lower right corner

Windows
will ask you to confirm the changes. Put
a bullet by the option "Apply changes to this folder,

You
will see an indicator as Windows applies the attributes to the folder,
sub-folders and files. The time indicated may be extreme (10 minutes
or more), but it will only actually take a couple of seconds to

the process. Your screen should look similar

AB Flame Thrower and AB Incinerator Red Smoke Effect
(135KB). This file will create shortcuts
that allow you to switch between the red smoke used by the AB Flame
Thrower and the AB Incinerator. NOTE: When using the red
smoke textures for the Flame Thrower and Incinerator, all smoke used by
AT-4 rockets will also be red. Use the "Deactivate Flamethrower Smoke"
shortcut to return to the original white rocket smoke.

ABSquad's Delete
Ghost Recon ".but" File (35KB). Ghost Recon has a slight bug
where if you install a new mission/map/mod, and then later turn it off and
try to join a multiplayer game, the game can sometimes crash. To correct
this bug, delete the "current.but" file, restart the game, and
you should then be able to join a multi-player game. This program, in
effect, will "wipe your but" for you, deleting the "current.but"
file automatically. Run this program before playing GR each time you add a
new mission or map and especially after activating or
deactivating a new mod add-on. Added a shortcut on the desktop (for

the mod INSTANTLY - you no longer have to restart Ghost Recon to have it

Shop Pro v7.00 RSB Plug-In (68.5KB). This will install the RSB plug-in
for PSP v7.00, allowing you to use PSP to edit the texture files (.rsb) in

RSB Tool
v1.00 (51KB). This program will currently work on 16 bit (565) as well
as 24 and 32 bit RSB file formats. You can select multiple files and it
will automatically determine the format of the file and convert it to TGA.

Side Support Weapon Fix (188KB). Helps to prevent Ghost Recon crashes from
players who use "support" and "full auto" weapons.
This fix is for standard Ghost Recon maps and weapons only. It DOES
NOT fix weapons in Desert Siege Maps, Island Thunder maps or mod
installed weapons (HX5, DA4.9, etc.). This fix also retains the range,
accuracy, fire rate and scope attributes of all weapons from the original
Ghost Recon Weapons and are not altered or enhanced. This fix is
"server-sided" - only the Host requires it to be installed. Also
includes a "restore" program to return all Ghost Recon weapon
